»A Spoon Made From The Land/大地から作った1本のスプーン«

2009, video installation, iron spoon, 16 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm, HD video, 11:00 min.

For this piece, Yamashita and Kobayashi produced a spoon from the land.
The artists used a magnet to gather iron sand along the Iioka coast of Chiba, Japan, then extracted iron from the sand through a reduction reaction process and used that iron to cast the spoon.
This is a work themed on "producing something out of nothing".
